The Munot is a circular fortress on the Emmersberg above Schaffhausen's old town, built between 1564 and 1589 along lines drawn from Albrecht Dürer's fortification ideas. Visitors cross the vaulted casemate, climb the tower's spiral ramp to the round battlement platform and look over the vineyard on the slope; the tower bell is rung every evening at 9 p.m.
