Old Synagogue

The Old Synagogue in Új utca, Sopron, is a medieval synagogue built around 1300, when the street was the town's Jewish quarter. After the Jews were expelled in 1526 it was turned into a dwelling, and research in 1967 brought its remains back to light. The Sopron Museum shows the prayer hall with its carved Torah niche and the ritual bath.
