Menin Gate

The Menin Gate is a memorial at the eastern exit of Ypres to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in the Ypres Salient in the First World War and have no known grave. Designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield and unveiled in 1927, its Hall of Memory carries more than 54,000 names, and the Last Post is sounded under its arch every evening at 20:00.
