The Matterhorn Museum – Zermatlantis is an underground museum on the church square in Zermatt, opened in 2006 and entered through a glass dome. It recreates the 19th-century village with original houses and interiors and tells the story of the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865, including the rope that snapped on the descent.

tourist attraction · Zermatt Gornergrat is a rocky ridge at 3,135 m above Zermatt, overlooking the Gorner Glacier and the Matterhorn. The Gornergrat rack railway, opened in 1898, climbs from its station opposite Zermatt railway station to the summit station at 3,090 m. Near the top stands the Kulmhotel, whose two towers house astronomical observatories.

tourist attraction · Zermatt Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is the cable-car station on the Klein Matterhorn above Zermatt. Cable cars and the Matterhorn Glacier Ride gondola climb via Furi and Trockener Steg to the station at about 3,820 m, and a lift leads up to a viewing platform at 3,883 m. Inside the glacier, the Glacier Palace has halls and sculptures carved from ice.
