About Banff

Banff is a mountain town inside Banff National Park, Canada's oldest national park, in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. The Banff Gondola climbs Sulphur Mountain, and the Banff Upper Hot Springs sit lower on the same slope. The Cave and Basin National Historic Site marks the hot springs where the park began in 1885. In town, the Whyte Museum covers the history and art of the Rockies, the Banff Park Museum shows natural history in a log building of 1903, and the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum covers the First Nations of the plains. Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and Johnston Canyon are a short drive away.
