Comedy Carpet

The Comedy Carpet is a public artwork on Blackpool Promenade in front of Blackpool Tower, designed by Gordon Young with typography by Why Not Associates and opened by Ken Dodd in 2011. Set into the Tower Festival Headland, its concrete and granite surface carries more than 160,000 letters spelling jokes, catchphrases and the names of comedians.
