Schwabentor

The Schwabentor is one of two surviving medieval gate towers in Freiburg's old town, built around 1250. It was heightened and given its crow-stepped gable and onion dome around 1900, then partly simplified again in 1954. A tram line and road now pass through its arch, and a private tin-figure museum occupies the tower.
