Gruyères Castle

Gruyères Castle stands at the top of the small medieval town of Gruyères and was built between 1270 and 1282 for the counts of Gruyères. Later the seat of Fribourg's bailiffs and from 1849 a summer residence of the Bovy and Balland families, it shows furnished rooms, landscapes by Corot and Barthélemy Menn, Burgundian war booty and a formal garden.
