Daishō-in

Daishō-in is a Shingon Buddhist temple at the foot of Mount Misen on Miyajima, by tradition founded by the monk Kūkai in 806 and the island's oldest temple. Its stairways are lined with rotating sutra cylinders and hundreds of small stone rakan figures, and the Henjōkutsu cave holds images of the 88 temples of the Shikoku pilgrimage.
