    The Reiss-Engelhorn Museums are a group of museum buildings in central Mannheim holding about 1.2 million objects across archaeology, world cultures, art history and photography. The Museum Weltkulturen building covers the Metal Ages through the Roman and medieval periods and Egyptian art; a separate Schillerhaus is dedicated to the playwright Friedrich Schiller.

  • Jesuit Church

    The Jesuit Church is a Baroque Catholic church in Mannheim built between 1733 and 1760 to a design by Alessandro Galli da Bibiena, with twin red sandstone towers and a 75-metre dome. Heavily damaged in the Second World War, it was rebuilt in its historic style using salvaged elements and frescoes by Egid Quirin Asam, and remains an active parish church.

    Mannheim Palace is a Baroque palace built 1720-1760 for Elector Karl III Philip after he moved the Palatinate's capital to Mannheim. At six hectares it is one of Europe's largest Baroque palaces, second in size only to Versailles. Most of it houses the University of Mannheim; a wing operates as the Schlossmuseum, showing period furniture, tapestries and paintings.

    The Mannheim Water Tower is a 60-metre sandstone tower built between 1886 and 1889 by architect Gustav Halmhuber as the city's first central water supply tower. It stands at the centre of Friedrichsplatz, a park laid out from 1899 to 1903 with a cascade fountain and rose garden, and has been a protected landmark since 1987.

    Kunsthalle Mannheim is a museum of modern and contemporary art, built in 1907 to a design by Hermann Billing and opened as a permanent municipal gallery in 1909. Its collection of around 1,500 works spans French Modernism, with paintings by Manet and Cezanne, to contemporary artists including Anselm Kiefer, shown partly in a 2018 glass-roofed extension.

    Luisenpark is a 42-hectare park on the left bank of the Neckar in Mannheim, laid out between 1892 and 1903. It contains a Chinese garden, rose garden, arboretum and greenhouses, along with gondoletta boat rides and a 205-metre telecommunications tower with a revolving restaurant. Entry has required a paid ticket since 1975.

    The Technoseum is a technology museum in Mannheim built between 1982 and 1990 to the design of architect Ingeborg Kühler, tracing industrialisation in south-west Germany from its beginnings to the present. Exhibits include historic machinery, a working steam train, a seasonal narrow-gauge railway, and a full-scale replica of the 1929 Opel RAK.1 rocket-plane.
