The Belfry of Mons is an 87-metre Baroque tower built from 1662 to 1669 to designs by Louis Ledoux, in the castle park at the top of the town. It is the only Baroque belfry in Belgium, part of the UNESCO-listed Belfries of Belgium and France, and holds a 49-bell carillon; visits start at the Maison des Patrimoines UNESCO at its foot.

Saint Waltrude Collegiate Church is a Brabantine Gothic church in Mons, begun in 1450 for a chapter of noble canonesses and never fully completed. Inside are sculptures by Jacques Du Brœucq, 16th-century armorial stained glass, 29 chapels and the Car d'Or, the 18th-century processional chariot that carries the saint's relics; the treasury is a separate visit.

The Mundaneum is an archive centre and exhibition space in Mons, housed since 1993 in an Art Deco former cooperative department store. It keeps the collections of Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine, who set out from 1895 to classify all published knowledge; their card index, the Universal Bibliographic Repertory, is on UNESCO's Memory of the World register.

Maison Van Gogh is the miner's house in Cuesmes, part of Mons, where Vincent van Gogh lodged in 1880 while working as a lay preacher in the Borinage coalfield, and where he decided to become an artist. A visitor pavilion, reproductions of his Borinage drawings, a facsimile letter and a reconstructed interior present his stay.
