  • St. George's Parish Church

St. George's Parish Church stands on the ridge above Piran's old town. The present church, built in Venetian Renaissance style from the 1590s, was consecrated in 1637; its free-standing bell tower of 1600–1615, about 46 m high, is modelled on St Mark's Campanile in Venice. Beside it are an octagonal baptistery and a parish museum.
