The Cathedral Basilica of Eger was built between 1831 and 1837 by József Hild for Archbishop János László Pyrker and serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Eger. Its neoclassical facade has a Corinthian portico and statues of saints, and a central dome rises 40 metres above the three-nave interior.

The Lyceum is a baroque former seminary building on Eszterházy tér in Eger, begun in 1761 under Bishop Barkóczy and completed in 1785 under Bishop Eszterházy Károly, with Jakab Fellner among its architects. It houses a historic library with ceiling frescoes and, in its tower, an 18th-century camera obscura and astronomy museum open to visitors.

Eger Castle sits on a rocky hill above the old town, built after the Mongol invasion of 1241; it withstood a much larger Ottoman army during the 1552 siege. Visitors walk the bastions and casemates and visit the Dobó István Castle Museum, which covers the site's military history.

tourist attraction · Eger The Valley of the Beautiful Women is a row of roughly 200 wine cellars cut into volcanic tuff on the edge of Eger, developed from 1774 under episcopal permission and linked for centuries with the reputation of Eger's wines. Visitors walk the row of cellar facades and taste wine at the cellars that are open, mostly local Egri Bikavér and white varieties.
