About Honolulu
Honolulu is the capital of Hawaiʻi on the island of Oʻahu, with Waikīkī Beach, Diamond Head, ʻIolani Palace and Pearl Harbor. Waikīkī's beaches run east to Diamond Head, whose crater trail looks back over the city. Downtown, ʻIolani Palace, Aliʻiōlani Hale and Kawaiahaʻo Church recall the Hawaiian kingdom, and Bishop Museum keeps its treasures. Pearl Harbor, 15 km west, has the USS Arizona Memorial, the Battleship Missouri and two museums. Hanauma Bay, the Pali Lookout and the North Shore are within an hour's drive. Three or four days cover the main sights; buses reach most of them, a car the rest of the island.
