Foster Botanical Garden

Foster Botanical Garden, on the edge of Honolulu's Chinatown, grew from trees planted in 1853 by the German physician William Hillebrand. Mary Foster left the grounds to the city, and the garden opened in 1931. Its 5.7 hectares hold towering tropical trees, palms, orchids, a butterfly garden and a collection of plants used by early Hawaiians.
