Thian Hock Keng

Thian Hock Keng is a Hokkien temple on Telok Ayer Street dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese goddess of the sea, completed in 1842 when the street still ran along the shore. Built with materials and a statue of Mazu brought from China, it has carved roof ridges with dragons and a shrine to Guanyin at the back, and has been a national monument since 1973.
