observation tower · Veszprém The Fire Tower is a 48-metre tower at the south-western end of Veszprém's castle hill. Its round lower part is medieval; after an earthquake in 1810 Henrik Tumler added the late-baroque upper storeys and gallery in 1811–1814, for a fire watchman. Visitors climb to the gallery, and the clock plays a verbunkos tune by Antal Csermák every hour.
