Newcastle Cathedral

Newcastle Cathedral, the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas, is the Church of England cathedral of the Diocese of Newcastle, close to the castle in the city centre. The present church was completed in 1350 on the site of a Norman church and became a cathedral in 1882. Its tower carries a lantern spire built in 1448, which for centuries guided ships on the River Tyne.
