The HR Giger Museum occupies the medieval Château Saint-Germain just below Gruyères Castle and opened in 1998. It shows paintings, sculptures and furniture by the Swiss artist HR Giger (1940–2014), including his creature designs for the film Alien, and next to it the museum's bar, completed in 2003, is fitted out entirely in his biomechanical style.

Gruyères Castle stands at the top of the small medieval town of Gruyères and was built between 1270 and 1282 for the counts of Gruyères. Later the seat of Fribourg's bailiffs and from 1849 a summer residence of the Bovy and Balland families, it shows furnished rooms, landscapes by Corot and Barthélemy Menn, Burgundian war booty and a formal garden.

tourist attraction · Gruyères Maison Cailler is the visitor centre of the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc, about 3 km from Gruyères, opened in 2010. The brand was founded in 1819 by François-Louis Cailler and has made chocolate in Broc since 1898; the tour covers the history of cocoa and Swiss chocolate, shows steps of production and ends with a tasting.
