Synagogue of El Tránsito

The Synagogue of El Tránsito was built in the Mudéjar style in 1357 for Samuel ha-Levi, treasurer to King Peter of Castile. Its prayer hall keeps carved stucco friezes with Hebrew inscriptions, a wooden coffered ceiling and a women's gallery, and since 1964 the building has housed the Sephardic Museum, a national museum of Jewish heritage in Spain.
